To mark its 40th anniversary season, Miami City Ballet teamed up with director Ezra Hurwitz for a cinematic dance film set inside the iconic Versace Mansion in South Beach. But this wasn’t just a ballet project; it was a full-scale production, meticulously coordinated by Run Da Show, the company overseeing every aspect of filming.

From pre-production planning to final edits, Run Da Show ensured the vision came to life. The team managed the historic mansion locations, coordinated dancers’ schedules, supervised camera crews, and handled logistics for elaborate sets and props, all while maintaining the artistic integrity of the ballet performances.

Shot in Miami, Into the Magic City transforms the 19,000-square-foot Versace Mansion into a decadent, cinematic stage. Dancers frolic through grand rooms to Johann Strauss II’s Blue Danube Waltz, bringing classical ballet into playful, modern contexts. Costume designer Danny Santiago (The Devil Wears Prada 2) dressed the dancers in dramatic, opulent costumes that added flair and storytelling depth to every scene.

The film also highlights Miami City Ballet’s first season under new artistic director Gonzalo Garcia, and the full anniversary season, premiering February 20 at the Adrienne Arsht Center, features works by George Balanchine alongside the world premiere of an Alexei Ratmansky piece honoring MCB founder Toby Lerner Ansin.

Run Da Show’s production expertise allowed the project to seamlessly combine film, dance, and performance art, turning the iconic mansion into a cinematic playground. From coordinating lighting and camera movement to ensuring dancers had space to perform safely, the production team handled every detail, giving audiences a polished and unforgettable visual experience.
